Be inspired to see anew. This "from life" painting class is for the experienced student, and focuses on the interpretation of color, as well as all aspects of composing a strong work of art. Through weekly studies from still life, portrait, and figure we will explore our chosen painting medium, and the share a constructive, positive feedback session at the end of each class.

This class welcomes highschool art students seeking to build portfolios for college admission. Access to photography of artwork (slides).

To attend this workshop, you must be able to warp and dress a loom and read a draft already. You will meet and weave along side other weavers and work on a project or weave study of your choice.

Help with your project and discussion of questions and problems you may encounter is encouraged in this workshop. A “study group” may be formed. Weaving days not limited to Thursdays only.

Please have a project in mind at the first session. Full payment due at registration.

Be with other weavers at your own level. A 4 harness weave sampler, or a chenille scarf will be our first project.

The focus of this class is to learn or re-learn the steps needed to read a draft, design, make a warp, calculate yarn needs, dress a loom, and weave your project.

A materials fee will be charged when you use studio yarns. Handouts and demonstrations of each step will be held each session.

Attendance is very important to proceed smoothly. Saturday weaving day may be added, date TBA because of Holidays. Course price includes rental of looms and all other equipment for the duration of the class

Ages 7-teens Learn basic drawing skills, as well as color concepts in colored pencil, pastel, tempera, watercolor, acrylics, and oils. Students work independently at their own pace on subjects of their own choosing with individualized instruction.

Drawing projects leading from black/white contour drawing to pencil shading to color. Draw common objects from life.

Repeat students encouraged to explore acrylic painting of subjects from life with backgrounds designed from their imaginations.

Each student guided at his/her own level, but expected to work fairly independently. Portfolio preparation available. $165 for 10 weeks, supplies not included in cost.
